The Family Promise Program
Family Promise of Greater Kingsport provides temporary shelter, meals, and support services to homeless families with minor children along with assistance for Kingsport citizens facing homelessness.
Formerly Interfaith Hospitality Network, we continue to partner with local agencies, and organizations to find solutions for the homeless population in Greater Kingsport.
Shelter Program
-
98% families served in the shelter program are able to secure housing within three months.
-
Because of the depth of services and community support, families stay housed.
-
When a family joins our shelter program, they balance work and school schedules with case management appointments.
-
Our Support Churches provide daily meals for all of our shelter guests.

Rapid Rehousing
As part of a grant program, rapid rehousing is designed to help individuals and families quickly exit homelessness and return to permanent housing and is offered without preconditions such as employment, income, absence of a criminal record, or sobriety.
The resources and services provided are tailored to the unique needs of each household.

Homeless Prevention
If a family living paycheck to paycheck suffers a major illness, car accident, or job loss, it can immediately destabilize their housing and security. Without one-time financial help, they will be unable to pay their rent, ultimately resulting in eviction and the forced loss of their home. The cost of a single intervention to keep a family in their home is significantly less than the cost of rehousing them.

Stabilization Services
Some get to the heart of core needs (such as budgeting and life skills) families face in order to regain self-sufficiency. Other initiatives, like mentoring, find ways to match the strengths of our volunteers with the needs of our guests. Similarly, many initiatives build off core tenets of the foundational shelter program itself, leading to efforts like food assistance, furniture and clothing donation, and health and wellness programs.
