ACTS OF COMPASSION HAVE THE POWER TO CHANGE THE LIVES OF FAMILIES
Volunteering with Childrenjpg

“Each time we make room for strangers, we chip away at the fear and isolation and heartbreak in our world. We also get to participate in something life-giving, both to the people we welcome and us.”

Office Angels

Office Angels help by Answering phones, completing some necessary paperwork/data entry, cleaning, playing games or reading to the children, staffing our day center on the weekends, help prepare for new families to enter the program and drive guests to appointments (must be able to drive the Family Promise of Greater Kingsport van and have a good driving record).  Shifts are 4-Hour Periods.

Transportation Warriors

Sometimes, our regular van driver may need to take a day off.  These volunteers will transport the guests in the 15-passenger Family Promise of Greater Kingsport van between the day center and host churches each morning and evening.  Additionally, our guests sometimes need rides to appointments, work, grocery stores, and other areas.  You must have a good driving record.  Scheduling is flexible.

Sunday Warriors

Sunday Warriors help by transferring the beds from one church to the next on Sundays (must be able to drive the 15-passenger van with the Family Promise of Greater Kingsport trailer and have a good driving record). The trailer is moved on Sunday mornings at 7:30 AM and may be dropped at the next church at either 12:30 PM or 5:30 PM.  Each church provides volunteers to help load and unload the trailer.  Scheduling is flexible.

Moving Heroes

These volunteers are needed on “Graduation Day” when our guests move into their permanent housing.  If you have a truck and do not mind getting a workout, this should be one of the most rewarding days for everyone involved with our ministry.
